Bin Program

Backyard compost bins can divert on average of 650 pounds of organic waste per household from the landfill each year. To help reduce waste Currituck County is offering residents discounted compost bins. Residents can pre-order the Earth Machine compost bin through this program at 50% below the retail cost, for just $54.955.

Every year we offer a pre-order compost bin sale during the month of April and May, in celebration of Earth Month and International Compost Awareness Week.

How Does the Pre-Order Sale Work?

During the months of April & May, a limited supply of compost bins are available for purchase through our vendor, BrandBuilders, LLC. After the sale ends, orders are prepared for shipping. Customers will receive an email to arrange pickup, emails are serviced by Constant Contact (check junk/spam folders).

  • Currituck County does not make any warranty or representation, expressed or implied, regarding the Earth Machine compost bin.

New Public Records Request Portal

Blackboard with what's new written in chalk.Recently Currituck County launched a new service to help citizens obtain public records request from the county government. The public records request portal can be accessed at currituckcountync.nextrequest.com/. It can also be found on this website under the Government tab above.

This new service promotes transparency and will help Currituck County follow North Carolina’s public records laws. Once a request has been submitted it will be reviewed and processed by the County Manager and County Attorney offices.

Part-Time Employment Opportunities Available

We are hiring on a red backgroundLooking for some part-time hours working with an amazing team?  The Currituck Department of Travel & Tourism needs you!  We are currently seeking team members for the Whalehead and the Currituck Maritime Museum to assist our visitors as they tour these historic facilities.  We especially have a need for the weekends.

Museum hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays.  Weekend hours for these facilities will run from the first Saturday in April until the first Saturday in October.

These positions are a great way learn more about Currituck history while meeting and assisting our many visitors during the vacation season.

The Corolla Visitors Center is also seeking some team members for the weekdays and weekends to assist our visitors learn more about our destination and what they can do on their vacation.
