County Issuing New Currituck County Access Permits
Currituck County is in the process of mailing to all property owners the new Currituck County Access Permit, which will be valid for 2 years beginning January 1, 2023 until December 31, 2024. Each property owner will receive 2 permits.
These permits are to be displayed on the user’s vehicle windshield in order to:
- Utilize the trash and recycling convenience centers
- Park on the 4 Wheel Drive beach in Corolla
- Re-enter designated areas following an emergency evacuation.
Anyone who does not receive their permits in the mail by Tuesday, January 31, 2023 should contact the County Manager’s office at 252-232-2075.
Citizens who are long-term renters in the county may submit an online application to receive their permits. The online application, along with additional permit information, may be found at currituckcountync.gov/access-permits/.
Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP)
The Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) helps eligible families afford their primary heating expense by providing a one-time annual payment directly to their heating vendor, such as an electric, gas or fuel oil company. This program is facilitated by the Department of Social Services.
Social Services will take LIEAP applications from December 1 – 30, 2022 for households containing a member age 60 and older OR containing a disabled person (receiving SSI, SSA Disability or VA Disability payments), who is also receiving a service through the Department of Aging and Adult Services.

You can apply for LIEAP online at epass.nc.gov/. You can also apply in person at the Department of Social Services, or you can print out a paper application from epass.nc.gov/, which can then be dropped off, emailed, faxed, or mailed.
