The Currituck County libraries provide information and recreational materials in a variety of formats to the citizens of the County. The libraries are a part of the East Albemarle Regional Library System , which makes the resources of the counties of Currituck, Dare, Camden, and Pasquotank available to the residents of Currituck County.
Responsibilities of the Libraries
- Loan book, magazine, audiobook and DVD
- Provides reference and genealogy materials in print, microfilm, microfiche and computer file format for in-house use
- Computers available for public access to:
- the Internet
- Microsoft Office
- Ancestry Library
- Heritage Quest
- and the NC Live collection of computerized databases
- Offers free of charge to Currituck County Public Libraries patrons:
- Libby App
- Overdrive Digital Magazines
- Transparent Language
- NCKids Digital Library
- Offers free computer classes to patrons
- Sponsors children and adult programs such as Summer Reading Programs and special holiday events
- Provides weekly story time for children ages infant to four years old.
- Provides delivery service to:
- home bound patrons
- nursing homes
- day-care centers
- Twice weekly courier service brings materials from the counties of Pasquotank, Camden, and Dare to Currituck residents
- Offers inter-library loan service for materials from libraries throughout the country at a nominal fee
- Offers books-by-mail service to residents of Knotts Island and Gibbs Woods
- Meeting rooms available by reservation to nonprofit and community organizations
- Provides a photocopy machine (fee), fax service (fee) and scanning services
- Provide IRS tax forms and North Carolina Voter Registration Applications/Update Mail-in Forms
- Houses a reference and circulating collection of North Carolina historical and cultural materials
