Being a smart spender doesn’t mean being overly frugal or denying yourself things you really want or need. Nor does it necessarily mean spending less. Rather, it’s a matter of prioritizing – choosing to spend your hard-earned
dollars on things that will help you fulfill your life goals and aspirations. Would the money you spend on restaurant meals be better put toward a trip or a graduate degree, for example?
Try applying these seven suggestions to your own situation and you’ll be on your way to a fulfilling and financially stable future.

Stress Awareness Month
Stress Awareness Month is an annual observance held every April, dedicated to increasing public understanding of stress, its causes, its effects on physical and mental health, and practical ways to manage it.
Stress Awareness Month Focuses On:
- Educating people about what stress is and how it shows up emotionally, physically, and behaviorally
- Reducing the stigma around mental health and stress-related challenges
- Encouraging healthy coping strategies and preventive self-care
- Promoting conversations in workplaces and families about wellbeing
Rather than eliminating stress entirely, the goal is to help people recognize stress early and manage it effectively.
Unmanaged stress is often linked to:
- Anxiety and depression
- Sleep problems
- High blood pressure and heart disease
- Weakened immune function
- Digestive issues and chronic pain
Stress Awareness Month isn’t just about one month—it’s about creating habits and conversations that last all year. Raising awareness highlights the connection between mind and body health, reinforcing that stress management is not optional—it’s essential.
