    Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Currituck County Animal Services and Control. You can help the animals by joining our team of valuable volunteers! A wide range of volunteer opportunities allow you to develop new skills while making a much-needed contribution to this organization and your community.

    If your application is approved you will be contacted by telephone or e-mail and advised on how to proceed. All new volunteers must attend a volunteer information session and complete a training program based on the area in which you will be working. We strive to ensure that volunteer participation meets expectations and is a rewarding experience.

    I understand that if approved as a volunteer, I will be required to attend a volunteer information session, complete a training program, and will receive a Volunteer Manual. I understand that I am required to comply with the Volunteer Manual and Currituck County Policies and Procedures that I was given to read. I understand that I am required to report animal behavior traits I observe to Animal Services and Control staff. I further understand that I am expected to maintain confidentiality to the events at the shelter, at adoption events, and any off-site function of the Currituck County Animal Services and Control including but not limited to animal surrenders, redemptions, euthanasia decisions and discipline. My failure to comply with Animal Services and Control policies and procedures and confidentiality may result in me being removed from volunteer service.

    Waiver and Release

    I, the undersigned, agree to forever release, waive, acquit, discharge and covenant to hold harmless Currituck County, it’s successors, officers, servants, agents, employees and volunteers from any and all claims, actions, causes of action, demands, losses, damages, liabilities, loss of services, expenses and compensation, on account of or in any way growing out of any and all known and unknown personal injuries or property damage which the undersigned may have now or hereafter resulting from the undersigned performing services for Currituck County it’s officers, directors, employees or volunteers.

    I understand that my participation with Currituck County Animal Services and Control is strictly on a volunteer basis. I understand there are risks inherent in handling animals and while performing other services for Currituck County Animal Services and Control. Nevertheless, I hereby agree to assume those risks and to release and hold harmless all of the agencies or persons mentioned, whether caused directly or indirectly by any negligence (active or passive) attributable to Currituck County, its officers, directors, employees, or volunteers.

    It is further understood and agreed that this waiver, release and assumption of risk is to be binding on my heirs and assigns.
