How to Adopt a Pet

Currituck County uses Petango to list all our available animals.

If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat that is in Foster please contact the animals shelter at 252-453-8682 to make an appointment.

If the pet listing says “Accepting Applications” the dog or cat is on hold and not currently available. If you are interested in adopting a dog/cat on hold you may go ahead and fill out an Adoption Application and turn it in to the Animal Shelter.

After receiving your completed Adoption Application the shelter staff will:

• verify with your veterinarian to make sure your pets preventive treatments are up to date;
• contact your landlord, if you are renting, to verify you are allowed to have pets  in the home.

Adoption Fees

Cats – $75.00

Dogs – $125.00

The Animal Shelter only accepts checks and cash.  Credit Cards are NOT accepted.
