Effective September 2020 Currituck County will no longer issue ATV permits in-person at our offices. You will only be able to mail, email, fax use our online form to request a permit.

Residents or owners on the Currituck County Banks, beach foreshore, or beach strand are required to fill out an annual ATV Beach Driving Permit to operate ATV on the beach.

The petition may be obtained from the County Manager’s Office and returned there when completed. The petition is then placed on a Board of Commissioners’ meeting agenda. Following Board approval, the request is submitted to North Carolina Department of Transportation for investigation and processing. NCDOT will correspond to the first name on the petition regarding their decision.

  • What is the schedule for the Knotts Island Ferry?

The current schedule for the Knotts Island Ferry and other NC ferries is available at North Carolina Department of Transportation website.
