The Currituck County Parks and Recreation Department released a new schedule for pickleball open gym held at the Parks and Recreation gymnasium. The gym is located at 130 Community Way, Barco NC, 27917. This facility is in Community Park, in the building that houses the YMCA, Senior Center, and Parks and Recreation.
This schedule reflects the increasing popularity of pickleball and aims to accommodate more county residents who enjoy this growing sport. Pickleball in the Parks and Recreation gymnasium will be available on the following schedule:
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 9:00 am – 11:30 am, Senior Citizens Only (Age 50+).
- *Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 am – 11:30 am, Adult Pickleball Open Gym (Age 18+). *Beginning on October 3, 2023.
Please note that the Parks and Recreation gymnasium is separate from the YMCA gymnasium. The YMCA does offer pickleball also, but for YMCA members only. Please contact the YMCA for its pickleball schedule and membership information.
Outdoor pickleball courts are available at Shingle Landing Park in Moyock. Also, the tennis courts at Sound Park, in Point Harbor, have pickleball court lines. These outdoor courts are available for county residents of all ages from 8:00 am to sunset.
