Currituck County’s Opioid Advisory Board hosted officials from Hope Mission of Coastal Carolina on May 8, 2025, for a presentation of services that could help county residents recovering from substance abuse issues. Hope Mission is based in Carteret County and provides food, shelter, emergency financial assistance, emotional support, mentoring, and counseling.
Jamie Tripp, Chief Development Officer, and Adam Mann, Peer Support Specialist, discussed Hope Mission’s organization, mission, and operations. Hope Mission offers many services and resources to help those in recovery, including residential homes. Hope Mission also provides non-residential programs such as peer support meetings, jail diversion and society re-entry projects in several counties. At its base in Morehead City, Hope Mission operates a thrift store, soup kitchen, and delivers Meals on Wheels.
Tripp stated that Hope Mission peer support specialists could serve Currituck County at the request of the Opioid Advisory Board. He also noted that Hope Mission’s residential program would accept applicants from Currituck County.
