Vermicomposting or Vermiculture is a method of composting where worms convert food scraps into two of the best soil amendments on earth: worm castings, a fancy way to say worm poop, and worm tea, a liquid fertilizer derived from either castings or the leachate collected from a worm bin.

Vermicomposting is a great way to compost for people who live in apartments, condominiums, or mobile home parks, or simply do not have the strength to compost yard waste. This type of composting can be done in a garage, utility room, or closet. It is neat, easy, and odorless when done correctly.

Joanna Wyckoff-Struk will instruct the class. Joanna is a Currituck Master GardenerSM volunteer and the resident worm bin guru. Join us on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at the Currituck County Extension Office from 9:00 am. to 10:00 a.m. One lucky participant will leave with a fully functioning worm bin, worms, and all!
