Have you heard the buzz about Hügelkultur? Is it sustainable gardening science or simply another trend? And can this centuries-old technique be adapted for the average backyard?

Join Tammy, an Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteer with a background in veterinary medicine and pathology, for a look at the science, benefits, and practical applications of Hügelkultur. A lifelong gardener and avid learner, Tammy enjoys turning what she learns into garden experiments and sharing both her successes and lessons learned along the way.

The class will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2026 from 9:00–10:00 a.m. at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center, 120 Community Way, Barco, North Carolina.

Discover how logs, branches, leaves, and other plant debris can be transformed into valuable resources for your garden.

Save those fall trimmings, bring your questions, and discover how to put your yard waste to work!
