October’s Employee Wellness Activities
Let’s “SQUASH” Breast Cancer
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month—a time to raise awareness, honor survivors, and promote early detection.
To show support and spread awareness, the Wellness Committee invites you to participate in our Pumpkin Decorating Contest!
Submit your fabulous pumpkin creation by Monday, October 27, 2025!
All entries will be featured on the county website, where employees can cast their vote for their favorite design between Tuesday, October 28 and Sunday, November 2, 2025.
Remember—only one vote per employee!
Winners will be announced on Monday, November 3, 2025.
Get creative — your pumpkin can be real or artificial (foam, plastic, etc.), and you can paint, carve, or decorate it any way you like. Just keep your design work appropriate and inspired by the theme of Breast Cancer Awareness.

Denim for a Cause: Blue Jean Fridays Are Back!
It’s that time of year again — Blue Jean Fridays are returning to spread holiday cheer and support Operation Santa!
From October 10 through December 19, 2025, employees can wear their favorite work-appropriate blue jeans every Friday by donating $2.00 per week.
All funds collected by department heads will go directly to Operation Santa, helping bring Christmas joy to children, families, and individuals in need throughout Currituck County.
Show your holiday spirit, stay comfortable, and remember — keep it professional, neat, and festive!
Walking Wednesdays!
Fall is the perfect time to get moving, and the Currituck Walking Club is excited to welcome everyone back for Walking Wednesdays! Join us each week at 5:15 p.m. in the Extension parking lot for a fun, brisk evening walk under the lights (weather permitting).
No sign-up needed, just bring your sneakers, a smile, and a friend if you’d like. All ages and fitness levels are welcome. It’s a great way to stay active, meet other employees, and enjoy the season together!
