Currituck County is pleased to offer a new healthcare navigation benefit to employees enrolled in the County’s health insurance plan for the 2026-2027 plan year. This benefit also extends to covered dependents and will take effect on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
Stella Healthcare Navigation is a nurse-led healthcare navigation and advocacy service included with your medical plan at no cost to you. Stella is designed to help you and your family confidently navigate the complexities of healthcare.
With Stella, you’ll receive assistance with:
- Finding high-quality, in-network providers and specialists
- Navigating complex or challenging health situations
- Coordinating care with trusted partners when additional support is needed
- Understanding your care options with clarity and confidence
- Receiving ongoing, personalized support every step of the way
Currituck County has been assigned a dedicated nurse, Gretchen, whose contact information is included in the 2026–2027 Benefit Guide.
Stella complements—rather than replaces—the NCHIP Concierge Team. The NCHIP Concierge Team will continue to assist with questions related to claims, billing, and how to best use your health plan.

American Red Cross Blood Drive – Donating Blood Is As Easy As Pie
Join your fellow Currituck employees and citizens to “Help Save Lives” by donating blood at one of our upcoming blood drives.

For the best donation experience, it is recommend that you schedule an appointment, with the Red Cross and enter in the Sponsor Code field: CCGOVT in the “Find a Drive” search or zip code search; and it will go to the event. Register Now to help us achieve our goal to collect 18 “lifesaving” units of blood.
To streamline your donation experience and save you about 15 minutes visit RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass to read the pre-donation material and complete your health history questions. The questionnaire can only be completed on the day of your donation appointment.
Maximize your blood donation. Help more patients. If you are an eligible type O, B – or A – donor, consider making a Power Red donation. Red blood cells are the most commonly transfused blood component.
Once again Human Resources will give you a chance at a $25 Amazon gift card raffle for Currituck County employees who donate. Currituck employees stay on the clock when donating! The Red Cross will be giving out Fandango Movie Rewards to see a movie on them!
Salt & Sound 10K, 5K, and 1-Mile Fun-Run
Join racers Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Currituck County Rural Center for the Northern Outer Banks Salt & Sound 10K, 5K, and 1-Mile Fun Run. Enjoy waterways, boardwalks, and views of the Currituck Sound, along with waterfowl, wetlands, and even horses.
Participants will enjoy chip timing, well-marked routes, water stations, and on-course support—including horseback marshals. Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome.
After the race, stay for a pancake breakfast. Awards will be given to overall and age group winners, with medals for all finishers and shirts for the first 150 registrants.
