Donations & Volunteering
Donate
Monetary donations are the best way to help!
Consider donating to reputable disaster relief and volunteer organizations such as:
- North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund
- Interfaith Community Outreach
- Food Bank of the Albemarle
- American Red Cross
- Salvation Army
- Samaritans Purse
- Baptists on a Mission
- United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR)
- Team Rubicon
Find additional organizations at North Carolina Voluntary Organizations Active In Disaster (NC VOAD), which collaborates with local, regional and national partners to coordinate disaster relief, response and recovery efforts in times of disaster.
Donated items are also appreciated. Please coordinate your efforts with a relief agency to ensure that the donations you provide are available to those who need them the most.
Items typically requested include:
- non-perishable foods,
- cleaning supplies,
- hygiene products,
- diapers,
- infant formula,
- pet food,
- and new clothing items.
Volunteer
If you are unable to make a financial contribution but still want to help, consider volunteering. We recommend volunteering with an organization or coordinating your efforts with a county Emergency Management Office or relief agency.
It is not safe to simply show up on your own and try to help without being part of an organized relief effort, so please call ahead and make the necessary arrangements before traveling to an affected area.
North Carolina has a list of volunteer and donation opportunities available, check out “How You Can Help”.
