How do I get my road on the State System for maintenance?
In order to begin the process to have a private road accepted by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), a petition must be signed by the residents and property owners on the road.
The petition may be obtained from the County Manager’s Office and returned there when completed. The petition is then placed on a Board of Commissioners’ meeting agenda. Following Board approval, the request is submitted to North Carolina Department of Transportation for investigation and processing.
