The Currituck County Board of Commissioners will hold the following Community Meetings:
Corolla – Tuesday, May 26: OBX Center for Wildlife Education, 5:00 pm. Register at https://corollatownhall.eventbrite.com.
- The Corolla meeting is preceded at 4:00 pm by a community engagement meeting on the Beach Management Plan in the same location. Citizens are welcome to attend both meetings.
Moyock – Thursday, June 4: Moyock Middle School Cafeteria, 6:00 pm. Register at https://MoyockTownHall.eventbrite.com
Mid-County – Tuesday, June 9: Cooperative Extension Center Auditorium, 6:00 pm. Register at https://MidCurrituckTownHall.eventbrite.com
Knotts Island – Tuesday, June 23: Knotts Island Elementary School, 6:00 pm. Register at https://KnottsIslandTownHall.eventbrite.com
The Board held its first Community Meeting on May 11 at Jarvisburg Elementary School. Citizens are welcome to attend any meeting. Registration is preferred but not required to attend.
Each meeting will begin with a review of the Strategic Planning process by County Manager Rebecca Gay. The four focus areas of the Strategic Plan are:
- Housing
- Infrastructure
- Economic Development
- Quality of Life
Cameron Lowe, Director of the Currituck County Center for NC Cooperative Extension, will lead citizens through interactive sessions regarding the Strategic Plan. This will include facilitated discussions on the strengths, challenges, and vision for each focus area as it relates to each specific community and citizens will be asked to provide feedback. Citizens’ input is very important to the Strategic Plan.
Breaks will be scheduled and time will be provided for citizens to offer comments or pose questions on topics unrelated to the Strategic Plan.
