Members of the Currituck County Board of Commissioners and Currituck County Board of Education received an update on construction of the county’s newest school on October 15, 2025. Substantial completion of Tulls Creek Elementary School is expected by the end of the year.

Commissioners Paul O’Neal, Selina Jarvis, Mike Payment, Tony Angell, Janet Rose, and Kevin McCord joined Board of Education members Dana Parker, Jason Banks, Sandi Ayres, and Melissa Harrison on a tour of the facility hosted by Harry Davis, III, president, of Sussex Development Corporation. Sussex is building Tulls Creek Elementary School in partnership with Boomerang Design. This is the same project team that completed recent expansions and renovations at Moyock Elementary School and Moyock Middle School.

Tulls Creek Elementary School is located on Tulls Creek Road, adjacent to the Moyock Library. The facility consists of two buildings with a total square footage of 118,000. Its features include approximately 40 classrooms for grades K-5, cafeteria, kitchen, gymnasium with a stage, library, administrative and counselor offices, and teacher workrooms.

The school is scheduled to open next fall for the 2026-2027 school year.
