This educational outing is designed to educate children about what life was like on the farm, the importance of fresh produce, and the role farmers play in the community.

Join other Currituck children on Monday, June 9, 2025 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. with a visit to Virginia Beach Farmers Market with a tour guide and participating in several hands-on activities including: Milking “Beachy,” the model Holstein Cow; making butter; pumping water; washing clothes using a washboard; grinding corn and many other fun activities. The goal of this program is to inspire children to appreciate healthy eating, local agriculture, and sustainability from an early age.

We will gather at Cooperative Extension-Currituck Center and depart at 9:00 a.m. for Virginia Beach, Virginia. We will participate in the tour and return to the Cooperative-Extension by 3:00 p.m. Make sure to pack a lunch that your child can enjoy at the farmers market. This event is for children ages 5 to 8 years old.
