Currituck County celebrated the start of construction of Tulls Creek Elementary School with a groundbreaking ceremony on October 27, 2023. The event was attended by the Board of Commissioners, Board of Education, county and school staff, project developers, and local citizens. Special remarks were provided by Dr. Matt Lutz, Superintendent of Currituck County Schools, Selina Jarvis, Vice-Chair of the Board of Commissioners, and Dwan Craft, Chair of the Board of Education.
Tulls Creek Elementary School will be located on Tulls Creek Road in Moyock, adjacent to the Moyock Public Library. The 118,000 square foot facility will include more than 40 classrooms for grades K-5. The school is scheduled for completion in August 2025, in time for the first class of “Tigers” to begin the 2025-2026 school year.
The school is being developed by the project team of Boomerang Design and Sussex Development Corporation. This is the same partnership that completed recent additions and renovations to Moyock Elementary School and Moyock Middle School.
