Are you planning to raise horses or livestock, but don’t know how to get your pasture started? Or maybe your once beautiful pasture has become neglected and overrun with weeds? If you need help with your pastures this year, North Carolina Cooperative Extension has the class for you!
Join us on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center, for our Pasture Establishment & Maintenance Meeting. Extension professionals from Currituck and Perquimans Counties are partnering up to cover everything you need to know to get your pasture growing well.
The class will start with a brief introduction to soil health. This portion will cover what type of soil is present in your pasture, why you should get your soil tested, how to interpret the results, and how to amend your soil. We’ll then dive deeper into how to prepare the field for planting, what plants work well for different animal species in Northeast North Carolina, and how to manage and maintain pastures.
Register for this free class today through Eventbrite. For more information or accommodations for persons with disabilities please contact Adam Formella at 252-232-2261, or email adam_formella@ncsu.edu no later than 10 business days before the event.
