Currituck County Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing at the Historic Currituck County Courthouse on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. and possibly take action on:

  • PB 23-14 Ashbrook Estates:

    Ashbrook Estates, LLC, is requesting a Preliminary Plat/Special Use Permit for a 52-lot conservation subdivision located on the west side of Maple Road, Tax Map 52, Parcel 12, Crawford Township.

  • May 6, 2024

    Currituck County Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing at the Historic Currituck County Courthouse on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. and possibly take action on:

    • PB 23-33 CLUNY, LLC:
      Request for conditional rezoning of 3.43 acres from Single-Family Mainland to Conditional General Business for property located at the intersection of Tulls Creek Road and Caratoke Highway, Tax Map 50, Parcel 124A, Crawford Township.  The applicant is proposing a 10,500 sq. ft., 7-unit contractor services building.
    • PB 24-11 Carolina Designs Realty, Inc:
      Request for an amendment to the Unified Development Ordinance, Chapters 4, 5, and 10, to establish a new “Property Management Offices and Operations” use to be permitted in the General Business, Village Center, Light Industrial, Heavy Industrial, Planned Development-Mixed and Planned Development-Outer Banks Zoning Districts with a zoning permit subject to specific standards.
    • PB 24-12 Jay Bender: 
      Request for an amendment to the Unified Development Ordinance, Chapter 3. Zoning Districts, Chapter 6. Subdivision and Infrastructure Standards, Chapter 7. Environmental Protection and Chapter 10. Definitions and Measurement to create a new development type, Preservation Subdivision, in the Single-Family Residential Outer Banks Remote Zoning District.
    • PB 24-13 North-South Development Group, LLC:
      Request for an amendment to the Unified Development Ordinance, Chapter 3. Zoning Districts, to establish a maximum gross density of three dwelling units per acre in the Mixed Residential Zoning District in a Full-Service area where dwelling units include a mix of multi-family and single-family detached dwellings. The maximum gross density calculation will be based on the land area of the entire tract.

    Currituck County Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing at the Historic Currituck County Courthouse on Monday, April 1, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. and possibly take action on:

    • PB 24-01 Jane Gallop Newbern:
      Request for conventional rezoning of 48 acres from General Business Zoning District to Agriculture Zoning District for property located at 7972 Caratoke Highway, Tax Map 123, Parcel 27, Poplar Branch Township.
    • PB 24-05 Ashbrook Estates, LLC:
      Request for a Future Land Use Map amendment from O-2 Reserved Land to G-1 Low Density Growth for 130.73 acres located off Maple Road, Tax Map 52, Parcel 12, Crawford Township.
    • PB 24-08 Bissell Professional Group:
      Request for an amendment to the Unified Development Ordinance, Chapter 6. Subdivision and Infrastructure Standards, to provide flexibility and clarification to the process of transferring responsibility of maintenance from the
      developer of a major subdivision to the Homeowners Association.
    • PB 24-07 Currituck County:
      Request for an amendment to the Unified Development Ordinance, Chapter 5. Design Standards, to remove the multi-family design standard that requires the minimum ground finished floor elevation to be elevated two feet above established
      or finished grade.
    • PB 24-06 Currituck County:
      Request for an amendment to the Unified Development Ordinance, Chapter 3. Zoning Districts, to reestablish dimensional standards for existing lots and minor subdivision lots in the Agriculture and Single-Family Residential-Mainland Zoning
      Districts.

    Currituck County Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing at the Historic Currituck County Courthouse on Monday, March 18, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. and possibly take action on:

    • PB 23-20 New Bridge Creek:
      Request for a preliminary plat/special use permit for a 35-lot
      conservation subdivision located off Caratoke Highway between Beechwood Shore Drive and Munden Lane, Tax Map 31, Parcels 64C, 64D, 64K, 64L, 64M, and 64N, Moyock Township.
  • March 4, 2024

    Currituck County Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing at the Historic Currituck County Courthouse on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. and possibly take action on:

    • PB 23-34 Kellogg Supply Company:
      Request for an amendment to the Unified Development
      Ordinance, Chapter 4: Use Standards, Chapter 5: Development Standards, and Chapter 10: Definitions and Measurement, to add a new Home Improvement Sales Establishment use consisting of retail sales with increased outdoor storage and sales areas to accommodate larger items such as lumber.
    • PB 24-02 Currituck County:
      Request for an amendment to the Unified Development
      Ordinance Chapter 1: General Provisions and Chapter 3: Zoning Districts, to increase the minimum side setbacks for principal structures in Corolla from 10 feet to 15 feet.
    • PB 24-03 Currituck County:
      Request for an amendment to the Unified Development
      Ordinance Chapter 3. Zoning Districts to increase the minimum lot size for conservation subdivisions in the Single-Family Residential-Mainland zoning district from 25,000 to 30,000
      square feet.

    Currituck County Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing at the Historic Currituck County Courthouse on Monday, February 19, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. and possibly take action on:

    • HPC 23-01 Culong House:
      Local Historic Landmark Application for the Culong House located at 315 S. Indiantown Road in Shawboro, NC.
    • PB 23-28 Porpoise, LLC:
      Request for a conditional rezoning of 1.29 acres from C-LI to C-LI for a proposed expansion to the existing surfboard fabrication operation and conditional zoning plan. The proposed construction includes a 14,400 square foot, two-story building located at 8778 Caratoke Highway, Harbinger.
    • PB 23-29 Currituck County:
      Request for an amendment to the Unified Development
      Ordinance, Chapter 2. Administration, and Chapter 3. Zoning Districts, to allow more flexibility for conditional zoning conceptual development plans and to expand minor modifications.
    • PB 23-32 Currituck County:
      Request for an amendment to the Unified Development
      Ordinance Chapter 4. Use Standards, and Chapter 10. Definitions & Measurement, to allow Prefabricated Building Sales in the General Business Zoning District.
    • PB 87-56 Monteray Shores PUD – Amended Sketch Plan/Special Use Permit & Marina Special Use Permit:
      Outer Banks Ventures, Inc. (A) requests an amended sketch plan/special use permit to change single family lots and townhomes to zero lot line duplex lots, and increases upper story dwelling units from 6 to 9, the request increases density on the parcel from 36 dwelling units to 65 dwelling units and includes changes to proposed amenities and (B) requests a special use permit for operation of a 56-slip marina. The properties are located adjacent to Malia Drive and include the following Parcel Identification Numbers: 0116-000-10A0000, 0116-000-10B-0000, and 0116-000-10C-0000.

    Currituck County Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing at the Historic Currituck County Courthouse on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. and possibly take action on:

    • PB 23-26 Wilson Ridge:
      Request for a preliminary plat/special use permit for a 13-lot
      traditional development located off Tulls Creek Road, Tax Map 14, Parcel 23, Moyock Township.
    • PB 23-27 HOM Development LLC:
      Request for an amendment to the Unified Development Ordinance, Chapter 4, Section 4.2.5.A. Extractive Industry, to allow existing mines to expand up to 50% of the total site area provided the existing mine has been in operation for 12 months and has been in good standing for the past 12 months.
