ISO Fire Flow Requirements

Currituck County uses the International Organization for Standardizations (ISO) Method for determining the minimum needed fire flow for structures constructed within the county. We require this in order to provide the minimum required available water on site for our fire departments to fight fires. This is an integral component of final site plan approval for projects developed within the county.

In parts of the county where county water supply is not present National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1142 may be used to provide an onsite water supply such as ponds, tanks and other approved methods.
