Open Gym Basketball – Summer 2025

Currituck County Parks and Recreation invites residents to join us for Open Gym basketball this summer! All sessions are FREE and will be held in the Community Center Gymnasium (located behind the main building at 130 Community Way, Barco, North Carolina—not the YMCA gym).

Schedule:
  • Adult Basketball (ages 16+)

    Tuesdays, July 8 – August 12, 2025

    6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

  • Youth Basketball (ages 9–15)
    Thursdays, July 10 – August 14, 2025

    6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

No registration required—just show up and play!

The Parks and Recreation Department’s mission is to provide quality leisure services through safe and attractive facilities. It is the department’s goal to offer diversified passive and active recreational programs that meet the current and future needs of Currituck County.

The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for planning and implementing youth and adult sports and activities, as well as providing and maintaining athletic facilities and public parks.

Responsibilities of the Parks & Recreation Department
  • Offers youth athletic programs. These include:
    • Flag Football
    • Tackle Football
    • Basketball
    • Soccer
    • Girls Volleyball
    • Cheerleading,
    • T-Ball
    • Baseball
    • Softball
  • Offers athletic programs for adults. These include:
    • adult league softball (men and women)
    • basketball league
  • Operates the County’s public parks.
  • Maintains public walking, hiking, horseback trail.
