Closing Notice
Starting Tuesday, January 6, 2026, repairs will begin at Carova Beach Park. The boat ramp and boardwalk area will be closed during construction, as well as the restrooms for necessary repairs. Both projects are expected to take approximately 30 days to complete. Portable toilets will be available on-site for public use while the restrooms are locked.

The Parks and Recreation Department’s mission is to provide quality leisure services through safe and attractive facilities. It is the department’s goal to offer diversified passive and active recreational programs that meet the current and future needs of Currituck County.
The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for planning and implementing youth and adult sports and activities, as well as providing and maintaining athletic facilities and public parks.
Responsibilities of the Parks & Recreation Department
- Offers youth athletic programs. These include:
- Flag Football
- Tackle Football
- Basketball
- Soccer
- Girls Volleyball
- Cheerleading,
- T-Ball
- Baseball
- Softball
- Offers athletic programs for adults. These include:
- adult league softball (men and women)
- basketball league
- Operates the County’s public parks.
- Maintains public walking, hiking, horseback trail.
