The North Carolina State Board of Elections has set March 5, 2024, as the date for the statewide primary election. This date may be subject to change by the state elections board.

The candidate filing period for the statewide 2024 primary elections begins at noon on Monday, December 4, 2023, and ends at noon on Friday, December 15, 2023.  For local candidates seeking a county office, filing is done at the Currituck County Board of Elections office.

County residents should make sure their voter registration is up-to-date with the Board of Elections office. By state law, voters will be asked to show a photo ID when voting in person and via absentee ballot. Anyone with questions may contact the Currituck County Board of Elections at (252) 232-2525.

Also, any county resident interested in serving as a poll worker during the election period should contact the Currituck Board of Elections to learn more. Poll workers help at voting precinct locations, verify voter registrations, answer voters’ questions, and demonstrate how to use voting equipment.
