Currituck County citizens who vote in the November 5, 2024, General Election will be able to cast their ballots on a new paper-based ballot marking system. The Currituck County Board of Elections has acquired ExpressVote machines made by Election Systems and Software to use during the election.
“We are thrilled to introduce these new ballot marking devices to Currituck County, making voting easier and more accessible than ever before to every voter,” said Kimberly Twine, Currituck County Director of Elections.
ExpressVote machines can be used by voters who require ADA assistance. Voters may review their selections and verify that their vote was recorded accurately on their ballot before submitting it for tabulation. This eliminates marginal marks and the need for interpretation of the voter’s intent. Votes can be cast using the touch screen, detachable UVC keyboard, or with ADA support peripherals such as a sip and puff device.
Traditional ballots and the new ExpressVote machines will be available at each voting precinct in Currituck County during the General Election. Anyone with questions, may contact the Currituck County Board of Elections at 252-232-2525.
