Currituck County is pleased to welcome Angela Lottman as the Opioid Program Coordinator, a newly created full-time position on the County Manager’s administrative team. She began her employment with Currituck County on Monday, March 3, 2025.
The creation of this position was a key strategy identified by the Opioid Advisory Board to combat opioid use and addiction in Currituck County. As Program Coordinator, Lottman will facilitate the goals and actions recommended by the advisory board. She will lead the county’s efforts in partnering with local agencies, establishing a post-overdose response team, distributing Naxolone to organizations for overdose response, providing oversight of peer support specialists, applying for grants, providing public educational outreach, and facilitating community engagement.
Along with serving her community, the opportunity to build the opioid program from its inception was a major draw for Lottman.
“It’s very exciting to get started with a new program for Currituck County,” Lottman said. “A quote that has always stuck with me is ‘A journey begins with the first step’. I have a passion for wanting to help people.”
Lottman comes to Currituck County from her previous position at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, in Virginia. She served as a substance abuse counselor in the Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program, which treats substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. Before that, Lottman worked as a Probation & Parole Cognitive Counselor for the City of Chesapeake, Va., and as a Substance Abuse Counselor at Indian Creek Correctional Center in Chesapeake. Lottman has a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, with a minor in Criminology, from Averett University. She is also a North Carolina Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
Lottman’s office is located at the Historic Courthouse. She can be reached at 252-273-9632 or angela.lottman@currituckcountync.gov.
