More than 70 local senior citizens took advantage of the 2025 Senior Health and Wellness Day to gather information on helpful resources available in Currituck County and the surrounding area. Hosted by the Department of Senior Services and held at the Currituck Senior Center in Barco, the annual event brought together 21 vendors to present information. Flu shots were also available for participants.
Presenters from Currituck County Government included staff from Fire-Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Management, Veteran Services, Opioid Program, 911 Communications, Information Technology, Elections, and Social Services. Other agencies providing information included the NC Cooperative Extension, Currituck Public Library, Albemarle Regional Health Services, Trillium, Grace Wealth Partners, Interfaith Community Outreach, Albemarle Commission Agency on Aging, NC Department of Health and Human Services, and the Inter-County Public Transportation Authority.
Flu shots were provided by the Currituck Health Department. Participants were also treated to a free lunch from Subway.
