For the 17th time in the past 18 years, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded its highest honor to Currituck County. The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting was given to Currituck for the county’s annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2022.
The GFOA determined that Currituck’s financial report meets the high standards of its program, demonstrates a constructive spirit of full disclosure, and motivates users to read the report. The GFOA award is considered the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
Each year, Currituck County prepares a report detailing the county’s finances. This includes topics such as current economic conditions, economic outlook, long-term financial planning, and major initiatives of the county.
