Are you ready to spark curiosity and fuel creativity? Our 3-Day Electric Energy Camp is the ultimate hands-on experience for youth ready to dive into the world of science, technology, engineering, and math! Over three exciting days, Wednesday, April 23 – Friday, April 25, 2025 participants will:
- ⚡ Discover the Power of Energy – Learn how the world is powered through interactive lessons on electricity and circuits.
- ☀️ Harness Solar Power – Build and test your own solar-powered devices!
- 💨 Catch the Wind – Design and experiment with wind turbines to see how air can generate electricity.
- 🌊 Explore Hydropower – Create small-scale hydro projects and learn how water powers our world.
- 🛠️ Master Soldering Skills – Get hands-on with tools to build your very own take-home electrical project.
- 💡 Think Like an Engineer – Collaborate on fun challenges that blend creativity with real-world problem-solving!
- 👩🔬 No prior experience needed! Just bring your curiosity, and we’ll provide the rest—including all materials and expert guidance.
Every camper will leave with a custom-built project and a certificate of completion! Youth that participate in these workshops will also learn about NC 4-H Electric Congress and how to earn the opportunity to attend this exciting, all expenses paid event sponsored by NC Cooperative Extension, Duke Energy, Dominion Energy, and the NC Association of Electric Cooperatives. They will also have everything they need to complete an Electric Project Record and potentially attend NC 4-H Electric Congress in 2026.
This Camp is for youth ages 11-18 and arrival and departure times are different based on your county of residence. Review the arrival and departure times listed in the agenda below. Space is limited so register today at https://power_your_world2025.eventbrite.com.
There is a registration fee of $20..00. Payment can be made with a credit card via Eventbrite, or cash/check payable to NCSU. Checks and cash can be delivered to the Currituck Extension Office at 120 Community Way, Barco, North Carolina 27917 within 5 days of registration.
All participants must be enrolled in NC 4-H (https://v2.4honline.com) in order to participate in this program.
Currituck Agenda:
Day 1: Wednesday, April 23, 2025 – Meet at Currituck Extension Office at 9:45 a.m.. Travel to the NC Coastal Studies Institute in Wanchese, North Carolina. Return and pick up at Currituck Extension Office at 5:15 p.m.
Day 2: Thursday, April 24, 2025 – Meet at Currituck Extension Office at 10:15 a.m. and Pick up at 3:00 p.m. at Currituck Extension office.
Day 3: Friday, April 25, 2025 – Meet at Currituck Extension Office at 10:15 a.m. and Pick up at 3:00 p.m. at Currituck Extension office.
Dare Agenda:
Day 1: Wednesday, April 23, 2025 – Meet at Dare County Extension office at 10:30 a.m.. Travel to the NC Coastal Studies Institute in Wanchese, North Carolina. Pick up at the Dare Extension office at 4:30 p.m.
Day 2: Thursday, April 24, 2025 – Meet at the Dare County Extension office at 9:00 a.m.. Return and Pick up at Dare County Extension office at 4:00 p.m.
