You’ll discover the fascinating science behind crystallization, including concepts like solubility, saturation, and supersaturated solutions. Join the 4-H First Aid in Action program and gain the essential skills to be a confident helper in an emergency! You’ll master the basics of administering first aid for common injuries like cuts, burns, and nosebleeds, focusing on the critical Check-Call-Care procedure. We’ll explore the vital role of the 911 dispatcher—the trained professional on the other end of the call who guides you and coordinates emergency responders. Best of all, you’ll assemble and take home your own basic first aid kit containing essential items like assorted bandages, antiseptic wipes, gauze, medical tape, and an emergency contact list, empowering you to safely assist your family and community.

Unleash your inner artist with our “Dye Hard” Fabric Art Program! Dive into the vibrant world of textile coloring as you learn the unique properties and application techniques of both natural dyes (sourced from plants and minerals) and synthetic dyes (modern, vibrant, and colorfast). You’ll discover how to create stunning patterns using classic tie-dye methods. This hands-on experience culminates in you taking home two fantastic, personally-designed creations: a cool, colorful tie-dyed pillowcase and a matching pair of dyed socks! Come explore chemistry, history, and fashion all in one creative session.

All programs will be held at the North Carolina Cooperative Extension office located at 120 Community Way, Barco NC 27917 starting at 5:30 p.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m. These programs are FREE, but space is limited. Please note that there are two age groups for each workshop (5-7 and 8-10)-make sure to select the correct section when completing the registration form.
