Currituck County invites you to a Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Community Park in Barco.
This special event will honor Currituck’s African American heritage and achievements. Highlights include:
- Unveiling of the Dunston Family Interpretive Sign
- Dedication of a historical roadside marker recognizing Central Elementary as the former site of the Currituck Union School (former students are especially encouraged to attend!)
- Cultural programming by Dr. Walter Swan of Elizabeth City State University
- Guest speakers, themed music, bounce houses, food and ice cream vendors
