Step 1: Grant Acceptance and Contract Execution
Selected Applicants shall complete and submit the grant agreement and W9 form on or before 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025. Applicants that do not meet this deadline shall not be reimbursed.
The County will execute the grant agreement contract and return a copy to the grantee.
Grantees are responsible for:
- arranging beach grass purchase,
- installation
- and fertilization
through independent contractors.
Step 2 – Plant Installation & Planting Guidelines
Grantees shall arrange for the purchase, installation and fertilization of the required American beach grass plants. The required number of American beach grass plants (plants or sprigs) shall be indicated on the executed contract. Plants shall be installed by Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
Plants shall be a minimum of 15 inches long and planted at least 8 inches deep in moist sand (leaving approximately 7 inches of top growth). Plants shall be spaced a minimum of 12 inches on center. Up to 3 sprigs per hole are permitted. Existing dune vegetation should be considered in determining appropriate number of sprigs per hole and spacing.
For best results, plants should be fertilized with (½ ounce of slow release fertilizer (ex: 10-10-10) in each planting hole.
Step 3 – Notice to County and Accounting Report
Upon completion of plant installation, grantee shall provide notice to the County along with an itemized receipt for the purchase, installation and fertilization of American beach grass. The receipt shall include the address of the property and the number of American beach grass plants purchased.
Plants shall be installed by Tuesday, April 15, 2025 and an inspection must be requested by Wednesday, April 30, 2025 to be eligible for reimbursement.
Step 4 – County Inspection & Reimbursement of Funds
County staff will perform a site inspection within 2 weeks of notification. Upon satisfactory inspection of the Grantee’s property, the County Finance Department will reimburse the grant funds.
Grantees that do not complete plant installation or request a site inspection will not be reimbursed.
