Currituck County will host a Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 14, at Community Park in Barco. This special event will be held from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.
This will be a celebration of of Currituck African American Achievement featuring the unveiling of the Dunston Family Interpretive Sign, the dedication of a roadside marker designating Central Elementary as the former site of the Currituck Union school (former students welcome!), programming provided by Dr. Walter Swan of ECSU, guest speakers, themed music, bounce houses, food and ice cream vendors and more.
