WHEREAS, the Currituck County Board of Commissioners recently met during the February 2025 Board Retreat to discuss strategic planning for Currituck County Government; and

WHEREAS, there is a need for organizations to establish a strategic framework for success, and the establishment of a Mission Statement and a Vision Statement can be instrumental in this endeavor; and

WHEREAS, the following Vision and Mission Statements are crafted to clearly and concisely convey the direction of Currituck County Government:

Vision Statement:

“A sustainable, economically diverse environment that
preserves natural resources and strengthens livelihoods.”

Mission Statement:

“Currituck County is committed to preserving our heritage and providing quality services
while maintaining a safe, healthy and thriving community for all.”

WHEREAS, a set of organizational values were identified that embody the spirit of service and represent our commitment as an organization to both our citizens and employees:

Currituck County’s Core Values:

“Stewardship”
“Sustainability”
“Transparency”
“Flexibility”

WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners values the opportunity to openly discuss the County’s current challenges and future opportunities; and

WHEREAS, in its commitment to the strategic planning process the Board of Commissioners will identify strategic focus areas to guide the work of Currituck County; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners will engage with citizens, employees, and community stakeholders to develop strategies to achieve the goals of the community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Currituck County Board of Commissioners does hereby adopt the above as the Mission and Vision Statements, and Core Values of Currituck County Government.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners is committed to the implementation of a shared vision that guides decision-making, aligns resources with priorities, and provides direction for long- term work plans.
