The Northeast North Carolina Livestock Field Day will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Tidewater Research Station in Plymouth, North Carolina. The topics that will be covered during the field day are:
- Introduction to pasture ecology
- Pasture plants – identification and management of weeds and forage
- Temporary and perimeter electric fencing for livestock
- Nutrient distribution techniques for pastures
- Troubleshooting electric fencing
- Pasture layout and design for rotational grazing
- U.S. Department of Agriculture (UDSA) – FSA and NRCS – Livestock programs
Featured educators will be Dr. Matt Poore and Johnny Rogers with the Amazing Grazing Program, a pasture-based livestock statewide educational program. The three major themes of the Amazing Grazing Program are:
- Improved Profitability,
- Improved Animal Health and Well Being,
- and Improved Environmental Sustainability.
Lunch will be provided.
