Water consumers of the Wedgewood Community from 116 Wedgewood Drive to Baxter Road including Maple Circle and Ash Circle, approximately 35 homes, have experienced an outage in the distribution system due to a leak repair caused by distribution piping joint failure. Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.
Currituck County Water Department advises users in the affected area to boil ALL water used for human consumption including:
- drinking,
- cooking,
- brushing teeth,
- making ice
- and washing hands
or use bottled water.
Vigorous boiling for one (1) minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.
This advisory remains in effect until 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
