Members Need for
Wild Horse Advisory Board

Currituck County is looking for two (2) citizens who resides on the Currituck Outer Banks that are willing to serve their community by participating on the Wild Horse Advisory Board. If you are interested submit a Statement of Interest online to be considered by the Currituck County Board of Commissioners.

The wild horses are an integral part of the history and tradition of the Currituck Outer Banks and are culturally and economically significant to the County of Currituck.

The Wild Horse Advisory Board is committed to managing the wild horse population in a manner that establishes a sustainable equilibrium between the wild horse population, development, wildlife, and the environment.

The Currituck County Wild Horse Advisory Board is composed of 6 voting members:

  • One member from the Corolla Wild Horse Fund
  • One member from North Carolina National Estuarine Research Reserve
  • Currituck County Manager or designee
  • United States Fish & Wildlife Service, Currituck National Wildlife Refuge Manager or designee
  • Two at large members who reside on the Currituck Outer Banks appointed by the Currituck County Board of Commissioners 

The Currituck County Wild Horse Advisory Board typically holds quarterly meetings on the third Thursday of February, May, August and November at 1:00 p.m. in the Currituck County Historic Courthouse Conference room.
