Reenergize in May with TIC-TAC-TOE

Spring is in the air,  the days are getting warmer, it’s time to get active!  Let’s have some fun with a classic game of TIC-TAC-TOE with a “healthy twist”.  You can start by attending a few Lunch & Learns, try our fitness challenge or participate in Cigna new RecoveryOne program.   These are just a few ways for YOU and dependent-covered spouses to get involved and reenergize.

Playing TIC-TAC-TOE is nice; playing TIC-TAC-TOE  with a prize is even better!

All you need to do is participate in at least THREE activities listed on the card that are related to wellness during May until you get 3 items in a vertical, diagonal or horizontal row; then you got TIC-TAC-TOE!

If you are really ambitious fill up the whole TIC-TAC-TOE card to enter into a special grand prize.

Turn your card in by Friday, June 3, 2022 or once you achieve TIC-TAC-TOE,  and then receive your prize and be entered into the grand prize drawing. Sounds simple? It is! Plus you get to do something healthy for yourself.

How to play TIC-TAC-TOE
  1. Download our TIC-TAC-TOE (PDF) card. It can be printed or kept digitally on your computer.
  2. After you download the TIC-TAC-TOE document you just simply check the appropriate completed box.
  3. When you are ready to submit your bingo card just
    • upload the document – include your name and department in the file name.
    • email the document
    • Deliver to our Human Resources Department
    • Bring with you on Health & Wellness Day

Workout 90 Minutes Per Week

Women exercising with dog.The old saying “Something is better than nothing”. Let’s apply that to your workout, start with 30 minutes, 3  times a week. That is all you need to be well on your way to a new you.

Why exercise? Regular exercise has been shown to improve your health and mental well being. Main benefits of exercising includes helping you achieve and maintain a healthy body weight, tone muscle mass and reducing your risk for chronic diseases.

If you haven’t exercised in a while, start simple and work yours self up to something more intense. If you have been exercising you got this one covered.

Make a difference by giving blood, platelets or plasma at our annual blood drive.

Come to give blood, platelets or plasma between April 19 & May 19, 2022, and Red Cross we’ll say thanks with a $10 e-gift card to a merchant of your choice. Plus you’ll also automatically be entered for a chance to win a new travel trailer camper that sleeps eight.

We totally understand if you can’t or don’t want to give blood. That is why we have added an alternative solution, perform an “act of kindness” by giving a donation to our Currituck County Animal Shelter.

There are several ways you can help our Animal Shelter to get your Tic-Tac-Toe credit. You can do one of the following or all of them, just:

Doing nice things for others boosts your serotonin, the neurotransmitter responsible for feelings of satisfaction and well-being. Like exercise, altruism also releases endorphins, a phenomenon known as a “helper’s high.”

During this portion of the class, you will also learn what herbs pair well together and how to preserve herbs for later use. Following that, the second half of the class is learning how to use your windowsill herbs to create delicious dishes filled with fresh flavor.
