The summer is heating up and watering our gardens is a must. While watering a garden may seem simple, improper irrigation can increase disease incidence as well as nutrient loss. Luckily, N.C. Cooperative Extension Currituck County Center has a free class to tackle this issue.

Join us at the Currituck County Extension Office, on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to Noon as we continue our summer gardening series with everything you need to know about irrigation. In this class we’ll cover

  • when and how to properly water your garden,
  • how to identify nutrient deficiencies,
  • and how to install temporary and permanent irrigation systems.

In this, hands-on, outdoor class, we’ll install a drip irrigation system to our raised bed teaching garden behind the office. We’ll cover some of the pros and cons of a system like this, and go over everything you need to set up a system of your own for your garden. We’ll also cover how to modify this system for container and traditional gardens. This is a class you won’t want to miss!

Register online at, and come dressed to be outdoors (we’ll provide bottled water).

If you have questions or need accommodations for persons with disabilities, please contact Adam Formella at 252-232-2261 or email no later than 10 business days before the event.
