N.C. Cooperative Extension , Currituck County Center

Fall is the best time of year to plant garden plants and trees in mild winter climates, including native plants and drought-tolerant plants. When compared to spring planting, fall planting shows a significant increase in growth after the first year for most trees and shrubs. If you are interested in adding new plants to your house or garden, check out the Currituck County Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteers’ annual Fall Plant Sale.

The plant sale will be held in conjunction with the Currituck Farm Festival, at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center on Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. The sale will be held outdoors between the YMCA and Currituck County Extension buildings.

Patrons will have opportunities to purchase mums, perennials, and bulbs while benefiting the ongoing stewardship and enhancement of the gardens, educational programs, and outreach activities. Gardening experts will also be on hand to provide free planting advice and to answer customer questions.

Currently, masks are not required for indoor in-person classes, but are encouraged for unvaccinated individuals. Please be aware this could change in light of changing state or local Covid-19 mandates. If you need accommodations for persons with disabilities, please contact Chris Blaha at 252-232-2261 or by email at ctblaha@ncsu.edu no later than 10 business days prior to event.
